Dear Universe: Your Timing, As Ever, Sucks.

Yes, I KNOW I've been grousing about the lack of snow. Yes, I KNOW we have a snowpack deficit, and that's bad (third or forth year in a row, I think, we're going to have a significant deficit). And yeah, I KNOW I like snowstorms.

But having one scheduled to arrive the one day this week - this MONTH - I have to be downtown for a meeting (in Grown-Up Clothing) that can't be rescheduled?

That's just Not Nice, Universe.

(can we at least hold off on the Significant Weather until after 3m? That seems like a reasonable compromise, no?)

Can you do something like wear reasonable boots, and bring something to change into after, if you need to?

If this were going to be "meh weather" that would't be a problem. But we're looking at a mixture of snow and rain, with wind gusts up to 50MPH, etc etc before the temps drop and we get all-snow (up to 10 inches possible). So no matter what I do, a) by the time I get to the locationI will look like a meerkat that's been out in a 50mph gust winter storm and b) transit's going to be a disaster, especially coming home during rush hour.

It's going to be uhglee.

UGH. That does sound unpleasant.

Do you have a long, warm, waterproof-ish coat with a hood? I hope?

For that matter, would a taxi be worthwhile? (I have absolutely no idea how much taxis cost there.)

A cab from the meeting location to my apartment (and remember, cabs are metered by time as well as distance) on a GOOD day would run me about $40, each way.

During a storm, when the roads are crap and traffic is probably at a crawl?

Subway's faster, cheaper, and dryer.
